Lillypad

Description: For this crafting project, we incorporated a variety of media to create a mixed-media lily pad scene. We began by making a watercolor background to represent the water, then sprinkled salt onto the wet paint to create a crystal-like texture effect. As part of the instructions, we used three different types of media: crayon, marker, and paper. Next, we cut out a green lily pad, a flower, and its pink inner petals, assembling the pieces into a 3D form using hot glue. Finally, we removed the tape from around the watercolor background, revealing clean, crisp edges and completing the artwork. Activity Extension: After creating this, students will  create a mini version of their chosen creature and attach it to their lily pad art to turn it into part of a larger pond ecosystem.
